The Map shows the alert status of your protected assets. The alert summary in the upper-left corner of the map shows the number of active real-time and forecast alerts, and the number of locations that they affect.
Viewing the list of assets
In the top navigation, select Map.
Select the alert summary in the upper-left corner of the map. The list of assets opens.
To filter the list and the map, select a tab:
All: all assets and devices
Favorites: your favorite assets
Alerting: assets with active alerts
No alerts set: assets without alerts
Each tab shows the number of items in it.
When the Favorites tab is selected, you hear audible alerts only from your favorite assets. When any other tab is selected, you hear all alerts, but you see only the alerts of the assets on that tab. For instructions on adding favorites, see Managing asset alerts.
Viewing the alerts of an asset
Select the asset:
In the list of assets, select the asset.
On the map, select the asset.
The asset pane opens at the bottom of the map and shows the Alerts tab.
View the current status of each alert type, for example, Lightning, Govt. Weather Service, and Hail. Alert types without active alerts show All clear.
The asset pane also has the Weather and Details tabs. To view the alerts of the past 30 days, select 30-day alerts. For more information, see Viewing and downloading alerts. Admin users can also add alerts with Add alert. For instructions, see Managing asset alerts.

Alert details
The following details are shown for your protected assets:
Icon (asset type): The type of the asset, for example, an airport, a stadium, or a city center. For instructions on setting the asset type, see Managing assets.
Asset (name): The name of the asset. For instructions on naming assets, see Managing assets.
Lightning clear in (min): A countdown in minutes and seconds until lightning activity has cleared from the asset area. The countdown starts again if new lightning is detected. You can configure the clear times. For instructions, see Managing asset alerts. The color shows the severity:
Red: Alarm
Orange: Warning
Yellow: Info
Assets with no recent lightning activity show No alerts.
Lightning forecast time: The estimated time of arrival (ETA) of thunderstorms, in 10-minute steps. The alert clears when lightning is detected inside the alarm ring, or when the forecast moves away from the alarm ring.
Govt. Weather Service expiration: The type, severity, and expiration time of hazard information issued by a weather agency. To view the agency statements, select the alert.
Hail forecast time: The ETA of hail, in 10-minute steps. The alert stays active for the clear time that you set (20–60 min) after the last active hail alert.
Wind forecast time: The forecasted hour when the wind speed or wind gusts are expected to exceed the threshold that you set.
Precipitation forecast time: The first forecasted hour when rain accumulation is expected to exceed a threshold that you set. The forecasted accumulation is also shown for the longest accumulation period whose threshold is exceeded (72 h, 24 h, 6 h, or 1 h), for example, 17:00 3.9 mm / 6h.
Identifying audible alerts
If Browser notifications (audio) is enabled in your user preferences, Xweather Protect plays a sound when a lightning or hail alert starts. For instructions, see Setting user preferences.
While the sound plays, the asset is marked as follows:
In the list of assets, the asset icon changes to a speaker.
On the map, the asset marker changes to a speaker.
On the lightning or hail alert card, a speaker button is shown next to the title.
On the map, the lightning ring that triggered the sound blinks. If your device is set to reduce motion, the ring glows steadily instead.
Turning off audible alerts
Turning off the sound does not clear the alert. The alert stays active, the ring keeps its alert color, and the alert card stays open. If a new alert starts later, the sound plays again.
Select the speaker icon:
In the list of assets, to turn off the sound for all alerts of the asset.
On an alert card, to turn off the sound for that alert type only, for example, lightning.
The sound stops, the ring stops blinking, and a message confirms the change, for example,Audible alert silenced for <asset name>.
