Viewing alert status of protected assets

Xweather Protect

The Map view in Xweather Protect shows the alert status of the protected assets, and has various settings and data layers that you can choose from.

  1. Select Map at the top navigation on the left.

  2. In the Locations summary table on the left, use the arrow at the top to expand and collapse the table.

  3. Select the asset of interest from the table or on the map to show the alerts panel at the bottom of the screen, where more details of current alert status, configurations, and options to edit are shown.

  4. Note: To view all assets and device locations, both protected and unprotected, expand the Locations summary table on the left and select Show all locations at the bottom of the table.

Your protected assets are shown with the following details:

  • Icon (asset type): Indicates the type of asset, such as an airport, stadium, or city center. For instructions on setting asset types, see Managing assets.

  • Asset (name): The name assigned to the asset. For details on naming assets, see Managing assets.

  • Lightning clear in (min): A countdown (minutes and seconds) until lightning activity has cleared from the asset area. Clear times are configurable (see Managing asset alerts). The timer resets if new lightning is detected. In addition to the Alarm, Warning, and Info rings, you can add an optional Info 2 ring. Color coding shows severity:

    • Red: Alarm

    • Orange: Warning

    • Yellow: Info

    • Assets with no recent lightning activity display No alerts.

  • Lightning forecast time: Estimated time of arrival (ETA) of thunderstorms in 10-minute increments. This alert clears once lightning is detected inside the Red Alarm area.

  • Govt. Weather Service expiration: The type, severity, and expiration time of agency-issued hazard information. Select an alert to view available agency statements.

  • Hail forecast time: Estimated time of arrival (ETA) of hail in 10-minute increments. Depending on the user-defined clear time, this alert clears between 20 to 60 minutes after hail forecast polygons move beyond the configured buffer around the asset.

  • Wind forecast time: The forecasted hour when wind speed and/or gusts are expected to exceed the configured threshold.
