Assets are locations you want to protect with severe weather alerts, such as lightning, hail, storm arrival estimates, or high wind forecasts, to help automate and enhance your safety procedures.
All users can view assets. Admin users can also add, edit, delete, protect, and unprotect assets.

Viewing assets
You can view the alerts, weather, and details of an existing asset.
Select Map.
Open the asset:
In the list of assets on the left, select the asset.
On the map, select the asset.
The asset pane opens.
To view asset information, select a tab:
Alerts: real-time and forecast alert status for each alert type set for the asset
Weather: weather data for the selected time range
Details: asset type, description, and coordinates
Creating assets
Only Admin users can create assets.
You can add an asset by searching for a name or location, uploading a file, or entering the coordinates manually. Any location on the map can be an asset. Assets outside the latitude range −85 … +85° do not receive alerts, and the map may not display them correctly.
Select Add > Asset.
The New asset view opens and shows the Asset details section.Optional: Add the asset location:
In the Search location field, type a street address or the name of a landmark. Protect fills in the details and coordinates from publicly available map data.
To use an asset that you have defined in a separate geographic information system (GIS) tool, select Upload file, and then select a GeoJSON, JSON, or SHP file. The file must include the geometry and coordinates.
In the Asset name field, type a descriptive name.
From the Type list, select the type of asset that the location represents.
Optional: In the Description field, type a description.
Select Next.
The Location section opens. If you searched for a location or uploaded a file, the section shows the geometry and coordinates. You can edit them as needed.Under Geometry, select Point(s), Line(s), or Polygon(s).
Add the coordinates:
In the Latitude and Longitude fields, type the coordinates of each point or vertex. Optional: In the Label field, type a label.
On the map, select the points or vertices, and then press Enter.
To delete a point or vertex, select it on the map, and then select Delete. To clear all coordinates, select Remove all features.
Select Save.
The map opens and centers on the new asset. The asset pane opens and shows the Alerts tab.
Editing assets
You can edit the name, type, description, and point labels of an existing asset.
Only Admin users can edit assets.
You cannot edit an asset that is protected with alerts.
Select Map.
Open the asset:
In the list of assets on the left, select the asset.
On the map, select the asset.
The asset pane opens at the bottom of the map.
In the asset pane, select Edit (
)
The Edit asset view opens and shows the Asset details section.Edit the Asset name, Type, and Description as needed.
Select Next.
The Location section opens.In the Label fields, edit the labels as needed.
Select Save.
The map opens and centers on the asset.
Deleting assets
To delete an asset permanently, open it in the Edit asset view.
Only admin users can delete assets.
You cannot delete an asset that is protected with alerts.
Select Map.
Open the asset:
In the list of assets on the left, select the asset.
On the map, select the asset.
The asset pane opens at the bottom of the map.
In the asset pane, next to the asset name, select Edit (
).
The Edit asset view opens.Select Delete.
Confirm the deletion.
