You can configure alerts for specific assets to monitor weather-related risks. Alerts are tied to individual assets, and you can define the measurement parameters and thresholds that trigger them. An admin user can add alerts for assets.
You can filter alerts by selecting an asset tab above the asset list. When the Favorites tab is selected, you will only see and hear alerts from favorited assets. When the All, Alerting, or No alerts set tabs are selected, you will hear all alerts but only see alerts from assets related to the tab. See Adding and deleting assets from favorites list below.
For hail and lightning alerts, you can also assign alert zones. Lightning alert zones consist of up to four configurable buffer distances around the asset. Hail alerts have one buffer zone which is set to 3 km (1.86 mi) around the asset. For details about asset types (point, polyline, and polygon), see Managing assets.
Real-time lightning alerts indicate different severities of lightning activity based on the distances of the defined zones, using lightning observations from the Xweather Lightning Network as input.
Lightning forecast alerts indicate the potential of lightning to strike within the alarm buffer zone, indicated by a Storm ETA up to 60 minutes in advance. This alert clears after lightning is observed in the alarm ring, or the lightning forecast moves away from the lightning alarm buffer zone.
The Governmental weather service alert option allows Xweather Protect users to receive automated, agency-issued hazard information (e.g., tornado, flash flood, storm surge, winter storm) for assets. This feature is available for assets located in Australia (BoM), Brazil (INMET), Canada (Environment Canada), Europe (Meteoalarm), the United Kingdom (Met Office), and the United States (NWS (NOAA)). For assets outside supported countries, the alert option is visible in the map layer, but alerting is not available.
When an alert is triggered, notifications are sent to the designated users/user lists as text messages (SMS) or emails, including actionable information relevant to the event. See Managing users.
Users can enable and disable alerts. See Setting user preferences.
