User management includes creating and editing users, assigning user roles, and assigning users to user lists.
There are three types of user roles available for the UI:
User (regular access)
Admin (Limited) (limited administrative access)
Admin (administrative access)
User account
Each account includes an admin role and the user roles included in your subscription.
All users of an account can be assigned the admin role.
The number of users depends on your subscription. To upgrade your subscription, contact support@xweather.com.
User roles
Role | Permissions |
User | View the configured assets and alerts. Edit personal preferences. |
Admin (Limited) | Add, edit, view, and delete users with the User or Admin (Limited) role. Add, edit, view, and delete user lists, except the default user list. Includes all User permissions. |
Admin | Add, edit, view, and delete users with any role, and assign user roles. |
Adding users
Admins and Admins (Limited) can add users. Admins (Limited) can only select the User or Admin (Limited) role.
Select Add > User. The Users and user lists window opens.
Admin can also add a user from the Users and user lists view.
In the Name field, type the name of the user.
In the Email field, type the email address of the user.
From the Role list, select the role.
To add more users, select Add another user. A new row opens. Fill in the new row in the same way as steps 2–4.
Select Review.
Select Send Invites.
Each new user gets an email to set a password. Setting the password verifies the email address of the user.
Editing users
To edit user information, such as user role:
Select ☰ menu (three horizontal lines in the top corner) > Users and user lists.
Select the pen icon next to the name of the user you want to edit.
Edit user information and select Save.
Verifying phone number
When an Admin creates the user in the system, the user gets an email and is asked to add the phone number in their profile. The admin user cannot save the phone number of another user.
Select your initials at the top panel.
Select Preferences.
Select your country and type your phone number in Phone.
Select Verify.
Type the code you received via text message (SMS) and select Verify code.
Select Save and close the User preferences panel.
After phone number verification, you can enable SMS messages for notifications.
