Setting user preferences

User preferences include the following options:

  • Profile information

  • Notifications preferences

  • Units

  • Regional preferences (language, time, and date format)

  • Appearance

Enabling and disabling notifications

In the notifications settings, you can enable and disable email, browser, and text message (SMS) notifications. The SMS notifications let you set a time during which notifications are not sent using the snooze option.

To select the options according to your preference:

  1. Select your initials at the top navigation > Preferences.
    This opens the User preferences panel.

  2. Select Notifications.

  3. Toggle each notification on or off.

  4. Select Save.

In the case of a wind forecast alert, the notifications are emailed every 4, 6, 12, or 24 hours starting at the time the admin user has defined. The notification schedule is based on the time zone preferences of the admin user who is configuring the wind forecast alert. For the SMS messages, check that your profile includes your phone number.

Selecting units

Unit settings include options to select units for the measurements, observations and forecasts.

To select the option according to your preference:

  1. Select your initials at the top navigation > Preferences.
    This opens the User preferences panel.

  2. Select Units.

  3. Set the preferences and select Save.

The settings are applied immediately in the portal and in the CSV file download.

Setting regional preferences

Regional preferences include options for the regional settings, including time zone, date format, and language. You can choose between English and Spanish.

To select the options according to your preference:

  1. Select your initials at the top navigation > Preferences.
    This opens the User preferences panel.

  2. Select Regional preferences.

  3. Set the preferences and select Save.

Choosing Auto-detect for Time zone sets the time zone according to your computer browser time.

The settings are applied immediately in the portal and in the CSV file download

Setting appearance

You can customize how the interface and maps look by adjusting the Appearance settings.

  1. Select your initials at the top navigation > Preferences.
    This opens the User preferences panel.

  2. Select Appearance.

  3. Choose one of the following options:

    • Light – Bright background, easier to view in well-lit environments.

    • Dark – Dark background, easier on the eyes in low light.

    • System – Matches your device’s system theme automatically.

Your selection will apply instantly to both the interface and maps.
