User preferences include the following options:
Profile information
Notification preferences
Units
Air quality index
Regional preferences (language, time zone, and date format)
Appearance
To open the panel, select your initials in the top navigation > Preferences.
Enabling and disabling notifications
You can enable and disable browser (audio), email, and text message (SMS) notifications. For SMS notifications, you can also set a snooze time, during which no SMS notifications are sent.
Select your initials in the top navigation > Preferences.
The User preferences panel opens.
Select Notifications.
Enable or disable each notification type:
Browser notifications (audio)
Email notifications
SMS notifications
Snooze SMS notifications
Select Save.
To receive SMS notifications, check that your profile includes your phone number.
Wind and precipitation forecast alert notifications are sent only by email, at the interval that the Admin user sets when creating the alert: every 4, 6, 12, or 24 hours. The schedule uses the time zone of the Admin user who creates the alert. For more information, see Managing asset alerts and Managing measurement alerts.
Choosing which lightning rings play a sound
Select your initials in the top navigation > Preferences.
This opens the User preferences panel.
Select Notifications.
Enable Browser notifications (audio).
Under Lightning rings, select which rings play a sound:
Alarm and warning rings: Only the alarm and warning rings play a sound.
All rings: All lightning rings play a sound, including the info ring(s).
Select Save.
Browser notifications (audio) can play a sound for lightning and hail alerts. By default, Alarm and warning rings only is selected. To hear a sound for all lightning rings, select All rings. This includes the alarm, warning, Info 1, and Info 2 rings.

Default preferences
New users get the following default preferences. If your organization uses the US instance of Xweather Protect, new users get the US defaults instead.

Selecting units
You can select the units for measurements, observations, and forecasts.
Select your initials in the top navigation > Preferences.
This opens the User preferences panel.
Select Units.
Select the unit for each setting:

4. Select Save.
The settings are applied immediately in the portal and in the CSV file download.
Selecting the air quality index
You can select the scale that is used to calculate and show the air quality index.
Select your initials in the top navigation > Preferences.
This opens the User preferences panel.
Select Air quality index.
Under Calculation and scale, select:
EEA (European Environment Agency)
US AQI (US Air Quality Index)
Select Save.
Setting regional preferences
You can select the date format, language, and time zone.
Select your initials in the top navigation > Preferences.
This opens the User preferences panel.
Select Regional preferences.
Set the preferences:
Date format: for example, DD.MM.YYYY or MM.DD.YYYY.
Language: English or Spanish.
Time zone: select a time zone from the list. To use the time zone of your computer, select Autodetect.
Select Save.
The settings are applied immediately in the portal and in the CSV file download.
Setting appearance
You can customize how the interface and maps look by adjusting the Appearance settings.
Select your initials in the top navigation > Preferences.
This opens the User preferences panel.Select Appearance.
Select one of the following options:
Light – Bright background, easier to view in well-lit environments.
Dark – Dark background, easier on the eyes in low light.
System – Matches your device’s system theme automatically.
Your selection will apply instantly to both the interface and maps.
