Viewing map layers and using timeline

Xweather Observe, Xweather Optimize

Map layers can be combined to support dynamic weather data analysis. Layers are organized into groups for easier discovery and context. Only one layer group can be active on the map at a time.

  1. To manage layers, click the Map Layers button on the map.

  2. Turn ON the group you are interested in and toggle individual layers within the group as needed.

  3. Close the Map Layers panel to view only the legends for the selected layers.

Layers are integrated with a timeline that supports smooth looping and playback, allowing you to analyze weather patterns as animations. You can view both historical data (up to the past week) and forecast data (next three days) on the timeline. Playback speed can also be adjusted (0.25×, 0.5×, 1×, 1.5×, 2×) using the controls on the right.

If the weather data for the selected layer combination includes historical or forecast events, you can play an animation for your chosen time period once the data is loaded and the play button appears on the timeline.

  1. Select the time period you are interested in on the timeline.

  2. Use the Play, Pause, and Stop buttons on the left side of the timeline to control the animation.

  3. Use the buttons on the right side of the timeline to loop the animation and set its speed.
