Managing users

Xweather Optimize, Xweather Observe

User management includes creating and editing users, assigning user roles, and assigning users to contact lists.

There are three types of user roles available for the UI:

  • User (regular access)

  • Admin (Limited) (limited administrative access)

  • Admin (administrative access)

User account

Each account includes an admin role and the user roles included in your subscription.

All users of an account can be assigned the admin role.

The number of users depends on your subscription. To upgrade your subscription, contact support@xweather.com.

User roles

The user roles are regular user and admin user with the following rights:

Regular user

View registered devices and configured device alerts.

Adjust user preferences.

Limited admin user

View, edit, and manage regular users and limited admin users.

View, edit, and manage custom user lists.

Admin user

Add, edit, and delete users.

Assign user roles with different permissions.

Create and edit contacts lists.

Add and edit devices.

Add and edit device alerts.

Adding users

To add users from your organization:

  1. Select + Add > User.

An admin can also add a user from the Users and user lists view.

  1. Add user name and email address, and select user role.

  2. Select Review.

  3. Select Send Invites.

The added user gets an email to log in and set the password.

Editing users

To edit user information, such as user role or phone number:

  1. Select ☰ menu (three horizontal lines in the top corner) > Users and user lists.

  2. Select the pen icon next to the name of the user you want to edit.

  3. Edit user information and select Save.

Verifying phone number

When an admin creates the user in the system, the user gets an email and is asked to add the phone number in their profile. The admin user cannot save the phone number of another user.

  1. Select your initials at the top panel.

  2. Select Preferences.

  3. Select your country and type your phone number in Phone.

  4. Select Verify.

  5. Type the code you received via text message (SMS) and select Verify code.

Select Save and close the User preferences panel.

After phone number verification, you can enable SMS messages for notifications.

Verifying email for user

For any user who has a (normal) user role or doesn't have access to the portal, select Verify from your profile view or request this from your account admin.

An admin user can trigger the verification email for a user.

  1. Select ☰ menu (three horizontal lines in the top corner) > Users and user lists.

  2. Select the user from the list of users.

  3. Select the ellipsis (...) button.

  4. Select Resend email verification.
